Never Say No to Panda

Panda Cheese (Arab Dairy) · Elephant Cairo · dir. Ali Ali

The "Office" spot. Decline the cheese; meet the panda.

The insight

Panda was a small Egyptian cheese brand with a small budget in a category nobody thinks about. Cheese ads don't get remembered — but being threatened by a panda does. The insight isn't about taste or price; it's that a brand only sticks if it's welded to a feeling you can't shake. So pick an unforgettable one.

The idea

Take the tagline literally and make the brand its own enforcer. Someone declines Panda cheese, and a giant, silent panda materialises to calmly destroy their world — flip the desk, smash the computer, ruin the day — until the cheese is accepted. "Never say no to Panda" stops being a slogan and becomes a threat you'll never forget.

How it works

It's a machine format: offer → refusal → the panda appears, stares, and — as Buddy Holly's sweet "True Love Ways" plays — quietly wrecks the place. Office, hospital, supermarket; same beat, escalating each time. The whole engine is incongruity: a cuddly mascot, a tender oldies love song, and deadpan vandalism. It cost almost nothing, extended forever, and made an Egyptian cheese brand a global sensation.

The Stupid/Smart of it

Stupid: sell cheese with a mascot that menaces and vandalises the customers who don't buy it — scored to a gentle 1950s love song. On paper, borderline unhinged.

Smart: the tagline becomes a literal, unforgettable mnemonic; the deadpan stare and the tonal mismatch are precision comedy; and a near-zero-budget, endlessly repeatable format took a tiny brand to Cannes. Absurd premise, ruthless discipline.

Why we love it

It commits to one insane logic completely and never winks — menace as branding, and somehow it's adorable. It's the proof we keep coming back to: a tiny brand with one brave idea can out-fame anyone with a hundred times the budget.
